A Rare & Early Civil War Confederate Captured And "Q" Marked & Altered 1841 Mississippi Rifle Dated 1849 In All Original

A Rare & Early Civil War Confederate Captured And "Q" Marked & Altered 1841 Mississippi Rifle Dated 1849 In All Nice Condition. All original and complete. The rifle has nice metal and markings throughout. It is dated 1849 on both the lock and barrel along with inspector's marks "SK/P" on the barrel. The rifle has a very rare and unusual "Confederate Bolster Alteration" done to it as shown in the photos. It is marked with a clear "Q" in front of the brass trigger guard which means it was captured in the field and sent to Richmond VA. to be altered for Confederate reissue. The rifle has a very unusual large Confederate made bolster on it along with a turned down barrel so it can accept a socket bayonet on it. There is a lug on the bottom of it for the socket bayonet. All of the brass hardware is fine on the rifle. The wood is fine throughout with its original grain, color and finish on it. The barrel is bright inside and appears to have been turned into a smooth bore which has a diameter of 11/16 inches in it. It has an excellent tight action on it. This Is A Very Fine Example Of A Rare & Early Civil War Confederate Captured And Used "Q" Marked & Altered 1841 Mississippi Rifle Dated 1849!
