Extremely Rare Jacob Dickert Militia Rifle .64 Caliber
Description: Overall length is 54 inches 4 and 3/8 by one and 5/8 inch buttplate with a 2 and 5/8 inch square ended Tang 38 1/2 inch Octagon barrel with 1 and 7/8 inch round muzzle fastened to Maple stock by three flat keys with convex oval-shaped keys which pass through from left to right. The barrel signature is almost gone due to wear but can be verified with compared with his original signature. The rounded muzzle is slightly tapered to retain a bayonet. It has a simple UN decorated brass two piece patchbox and trigger guard. The buttplate, sideplate, ramrod, symbols for end cap, and front sight are all brass. The side plate has a modified L shape. The lock is marked Sweitzer with the reversed Z. Records show 11 of these rifles were made by Jacob Dickert in October 1814 for captain William Hamilton of the Lancaster Rifle Company. They bear no US proof inspection or ownership marks. They are similar to the US model 1807 rifles, except they have full Octagon barrels. The condition is clean with honest wear and minor chipping around the barrel wedges. A great piece for your American collection. Antique! No FFL required. If your state or area requires an FFL for antiques the buyer will need to provide one. MUST BE 21 years of age to purchase. Three-day inspection allowed if notification is given. If returning an item, the item must be returned in UNALTERED CONDITION-less shipping. Any weapon you plan to shoot should be inspected by a competent gunsmith before firing. SOLD Antique: Yes |
