British pattern 1776 Royal Forester’s carbine by Mather New Castle with bayonet. Approximately 44" overall length. 28" Round .64 caliber barrel with fine bore. Steel ramrod of swell and groove (Eliott) design. Lock marked “Mather/ New Castle". Stocked to 3½" of muzzle, with conventional pattern handrail butt. Brass furniture of Eliott carbine pattern including: notched nose cap, long trumpet forepipe, one pipe, tail pipe, Land pattern carbine trigger guard (without the swivel screw), and medium length butt plate tang with two steps. Metal and stock are excellent. Action works perfectly. The bayonet is 15¼" overall with a 11⅞" blade. It is stamped with a “H" forward of the shank. Horizontally it is marked “Woolle/ Deal*** (indistinct). It is in overall fine condition. This is the only pattern 1776 Royal Forester’s carbine we have had in 47 years. Don’t miss it!
