Antique MEDITERRANEAN Style “DRAGON” Flintlock BLUNDERBUSS DAG/KNEE Pistol Historic Naval Ship Boarding and Coach Gun!
Description: Antique MEDITERRANEAN Style “DRAGON” Flintlock BLUNDERBUSS DAG/KNEE Pistol Historic Naval Ship Boarding and Coach Gun! Here we present an antique Mediterranean Style Flintlock Blunderbuss Dag/Knee Pistol, made circa 1800. “The blunderbuss is a firearm with a short, large caliber barrel flared at the muzzle and frequently throughout the entire bore and used with shot and other projectiles. The blunderbuss is commonly considered to be an early predecessor of the modern day shotgun, with similar military and defensive use. It was effective only at short range, lacking accuracy at long range.” The flintlock blunderbuss was the original coach gun, being a short, handy and devastating weapon at close range. It was used in many capacities, not the least of which were for naval boarding or defending vessels. A “dragon” is simply a shorter version of its big brother, the blunderbuss. In many cases, the face of a dragon was engraved into the barrel near the muzzle. Thus, when fired, it appeared as if a fire-breathing dragon had entered the room! The catchy and intimidating name of dragon stuck, and is now a part of history. They were mostly used by calvary troops or in close quarter combat/self-defense situations. This term was the true origination of what we now know and love today as, the “dragoon.” The overall condition is fair. The action does not function. The bore is dark. The stock is in great shape barring a couple of very thin cracks on the left side of the stock. The stock is solid throughout. Remnants of engravings are present on the lock and hammer. This is a great example of a “dragon” that would display quite well in a collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 9 inches. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1655 #20723 SOLD Antique: Yes |
