NAPOLEONIC Antique “BROWN BESS” Flintlock MUSKET
Description: NAPOLEONIC Antique “BROWN BESS” Flintlock MUSKET Britain’s Arm in Napoleonic Wars, War of 1812, EIC Here we present an antique Brown Bess Flintlock Musket, made in England circa 1795. This pattern of Brown Bess is the same that fought Napoleon Bonaparte in numerous iconic battles, as well as the United States and their American Indian Allies during the War of 1812. This pattern may also correctly be called the “India Pattern” since the Honorable East India Company was the entity responsible for this update to the gun that had been around since 1722. When war with France loomed on the horizon, the British Board of Ordnance diverted these muskets from the EIC contract to supply the war effort. The lock is marked with the royal cypher, a crown over “G.R.”, standing for Georgius Rex or King George with a much smaller crown and broad arrow. The tail of the lock is marked “TOWER”. Proof marks are located on the left side of the barrel. There is an interesting wire inlay in the bottom of the stock, just behind the trigger guard. The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are legible. The stock is in good shape. The bore is smooth and dark. The action is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a great example of a scarce and desirable British Brown Bess Flintlock Musket! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 39 inches. Caliber: .75 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3050 #6438 SOLD Antique: Yes |
