John Krider 43 Cal
Description: John Krider of Philadelphia PA Half-stock Pennsylvania style rifle of approximately 43cal. This rifle was made circa the 1840's. With a 31" barrel measuring 1" across the flats stamped "Remington Cast Steel" at the breech and PHILADA on the top flat. It is held to the stock with one key housed in a german silver escutcheon. A bar action lock with double set triggers is marked J KRIDER. The locked has a repaired/replaced hammer. There is a mount for a peep site on the top of the wrist. The peep site is missing. The gun is mounted in German Silver, a higher priced option. The mounts along with the lock plate are handsomely engraved with beautiful scroll. Then inside of the patchbox is marked with the letters "TK" and a "5". The walnut shock with cheek rest shows beautiful figure. There is a 3 1/2' x 3/8" piece missing in the top of the fore stock in front of the lock. The rest of the stock is in very good condition with very light handling bruises. The lock and set triggers work as they should. The front ramrod pipe is missing. A beautiful well made rifle. Krider made exhibition quality firearms as well as high quality sporting arms. His shop was located at the northeast corner of Second and Walnut Streets in Philadelphia. Price: $1,800.00 Contact Seller |
