AUSTRIAN JAEGER RIFLE CONVERSION DATED 1738
Description: A fine, 18th century, Austrian Jaeger flintlock rifle converted to percussion. It is dated 1738 on the left side plate with the letters ”F.L.F. V.M.Z.A.” and “N.Z.” on the lower line. The lock plate is engraved with the words “Scheil Graz”, we believe to be the maker. The rifle is approximately .62 caliber with a rifled bore. Other Features include a silver inlaid barrel, a folding rear sight, engraved brass fittings, a high relief engraved walnut stock, including a cheek piece and a sliding door butt stock compartment, a horn tipped ramrod and a carved horn fore end cap. Caliber: Approx. .62 percussion Overall Length: 43.75" Barrel Length: 30" Condition: Iron barrel and lock have a good dark, untouched, age patina – Brass fittings have a light patina, and were probably polished, years ago – Wood has a good age patina with small nicks and scratches and small slivers of wood missing on each side of the muzzle – Action is crisp – Bore is very good.
