Antique Brown Bess .75 caliber flint lock. I am selling this one for a friend and not sure exactly what we have here.. He had it appraised in 2005 as a 2nd model Brown Bess Land pattern contract musket with original bayonet and ram rod... I have had a couple fellows look at the photos and what we think it is is a 3rd model Bess India pattern.??? The barrel is marked JW York M.. the lock is marked Barker. The over all length is 53 1/4inches. The barrel is 40 ½ inches long including the tang into the stock. Without the tang it measures 38 inches. The lock functions perfectly. We are not sure but we think the ramrod and the bayonet are not original. Sling swivels are correct. There is a very old sliver of wood missing on the left side about 8 inches long as you can see in the photos. Note the information on the hang tag,.. If anyone has any more information on this thing please let us know. I have taken about 30 more photos so if you want more photos just let me know and I will send them directly to your e-mail address. A lot of history in this one so if you have an interest let us know.. Open for reasonable offers.. I will have to get a price quote from my post office on the shipping..
