19th Century English Flintlock Northwest Trade Musket
Description: 19th Century English Flintlock Northwest Trade Musket Offered here for sale and just acquired is this 19th century recreation of the famous Northwest Fur Trade musket which was originally made in the 1770s for the Fur Trading companies of that period. This specimen was found to be made in the late 1800s and exported for African Trade by companies like Stoeger Arms and could be found in their catalog in the 20th century. They were also found in early Bannerman’s catalogs. This specimen measures 59” overall with a 42” barrel. When acquires it has an outward crust appearance and has been cleaned. Ity exhibits for the most part a smooth brown patina. The wood is solid with much use marks. The top jaw and screw when found was missing and we have replaced those pieces. Mechanically fine with markings all readable including the circle fox emblem in stock and British proofmarks on top of barrel near breech. Unmistakable brass serpentine side plate opposite lock.
