"Nepalese(?) Third Type Brown Bess Musket, Dated 1800 (AL5230)
Description: "Nepalese(?) Third Type Brown Bess musket, dated 1800. Overall length is approximately 52½". The 36¾" round .70 caliber smoothbore barrel has a poor bore. All metal has a dark brown patina. The barrel has no visible proof marks but is marked on the top “JPR/EXR/104 (registration marks?). The lock is dated “1800" at the tail. Any marks forward of the cock have been removed. The stock has, on the right butt, a stamp circle with an apparent Nepalese character. The stock is good with use dents, three old stress cracks on the butt, and a small chip to the rear of the barrel tang. The touch hole appears to have been bushed but the lock is original flint. There is an open dovetail at the muzzle where the bayonet lug would be. The swivels and ramrod are present. The action functions correctly. This is an interesting flintlock musket that could use further research. Price: $2,750.00 Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
