Moses Patent Single Shot Rifle for Cartridge or Percussion. Barrel marked “M-Moses Patent Sept. 30th 1862 Malone N.Y.” caliber approximately .30. Barrel length is 27” with an overall length of 43”. Bore is very good to excellent. Frame is brass. This is a two-trigger gun. Front trigger releases the tip down barrel. Rear trigger fires it. Barrel has a percussion insert with a nipple on it for a percussion cap. Remove the insert and it can fire a cartridge (that must have had a very thick rim). Ejector is a manual slide type on the right side of the barrel. Stock is Rosewood and patch box has a single conical lead bullet in it. Frank Sellers book American Gunsmiths lists Myron A. Moses, Malone New York 1857-1870 died patent #36571 Sept. 30, 1862 breech loading firearm. This is an unusual but eye pleasing rifle. This is sure to be a rare item and good for lengthy conversations.
