I believe this to be a French Model 1859 percussion Musket of which many were imported during the civil war. 34.5 inch barrel with bayonet attachment and fixed front sight caliber is 70+. The 2 band stock is very good with JS initials on the left side. All metal parts have a smooth brown patina with scattered pitting. The lock is missing the main spring but I'm including a second working lock so the new owner can replace the spring. Otherwise the gun appears complete with sling swivels and ramrod.
