Description: c1860 RICHARD DIEMAR of TAUNTON, MASS Half-Stock Rifle .44 Caliber Antique Engraved, German Silver, Octagon/Round Transitional Barrel Here we present an antique Richard Diemar Half Stock Percussion Rifle, made circa the mid-19th Century. Diemar was a gunmaker working out of Taunton, Massachusetts and was working between the years of 1856 and 1878. This rifle features a substantial part octagon/part round barrel in .44 caliber. The front sight is a globe type and the rear sight is mounted on the barrel. There is a peep sight base behind the barrel tang. Double set trigger. Fancy wood stock. Engraved steel lock with engraved German silver hardware throughout such as butt plate, trigger guard, fore-end cap. A very handsome rifle. The overall condition is very good. Strong action. Bright bore with sharp rifling. The stock has a nice glossy finish over a very rich color and grain. It does have a crack around the rear sight base (behind the barrel tang) with nearly imperceptible movement when pressure is applied. Missing rear sight from the tang. Sharp markings and engravings.
