C.S. Richmond carbine
Description: Very Scarce Confederate Richmond Carbine dated 1863. This gun features a .58 caliber, 25” round barrel and walnut stock. It has the distinctive “low humpback” lock (without the Maynard Tape primer mechanism) made from machinery captured at Harpers Ferry. The lock is dated “1863” and marked “C.S./RICHMOND,VA”. This Type III carbine features an unmarked brass buttplate and nosecap. Both barrel bands have the “U” misaligned from the band springs – a unique Confederate trait. Condition: This carbine is “right as rain” and is NOT assembled from other musket parts as many are found today. Lock markings are excellent. The lock aperture does not have the groove or channel required for the Maynard primer device. The barrel has the correct pinched front sight and the small “T” slot for the rear sight. The rear sight is missing (and the screw holding the rear sight has been wrung off). There are no discernible markings on the barrel. The stock is in fine condition for a Confederate weapon. The screw-in rear sling swivel is missing but could easily be replaced if desired. Overall, this carbine is in very good condition for a well-used Confederate weapon and very reasonably priced. PAYMENT OPTIONS: Payment is expected within 10 days of ending. I only accept postal money orders, cashier’s checks and personal checks. Checks will be held 10 business days for checks to clear.
