Antique ENGLISH Percussion Smooth Bore “Rifle”
Description: Antique ENGLISH Percussion Smooth Bore “Rifle” Made by Robert Jones of Liverpool, England c1840 Here we present an antique Percussion Smooth Bore “Rifle”, made circa 1847 at 9 Waterloo Road in Liverpool, England, by Robert Jones. His address is marked on top of the barrel. He is recorded at the following addresses: 27 Stanhope St. 1826-1829; 32 Stanhope St. 1831-1845; 9 Waterloo Rd. and 53 Oldhall St. 1847-1854; 32 Great Howard St. 1855-1869. It seems that his business outlasted him, finally closing in 1917. The bore is smooth, but there are a front blade sight and 3 leaf adjustable rear sight present. Barrel is 31 inches in length and octagonal. Smooth bores are quite versatile in function and ammunition, as well as much simpler to manufacture than rifled barrels. The gun also features sling swivels on the butt and the second ramrod holder. The hammer is engraved in the likeness of a fish, and the lock, barrel, butt plate and trigger guard are all very nicely engraved. The overall condition of this piece is very good. The barrel has turned an even brown over time and the lockwork has a dark patina. The engraving is well done. The markings are clear and legible. The ramrod is original. The stock is well fit and solid, with just a small crack opposite the lock caused by the single screw. The bore is smooth and in good condition. The lock is excellent. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 31 inches in length. Caliber: .52 percussion Bore is in good condition. The firing mechanism is functional. Overall condition as seen in photos. Make this beautiful British smoothbore a part of your collection. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $950 #10370 SOLD Antique: Yes |
