"Percussion-Altered British Brown Bess musket (AL5243)
Description: "Percussion-Altered British Brown Bess musket. The overall length is approximately 54½". The 39" round .75 caliber smoothbore barrel has a fair bore with rust. All the metal has a smooth gray/ brown patina. The brass furniture is good. The stock is good with many issue dents and dings, but no cracks or chip. The barrel proofs are visible but worn. “841" (1841?) is on the top of the barrel. The lock has “Tower" at the tail, crown over “GR" at the center, and traces of a small crown over broad arrow to the right. The percussion-alteration, which appears to be Germanic (There is a Maltese Cross above the crown/ “GB"), is very interesting. A pivoting nipple protector has been expertly added to the lock. The joint is almost undetectable. The action functions correctly. If you’re into Flintlock to percussion-alteration muskets, this Brown Bess is for you. Price: $1,950.00 Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
