"Fine Percussion Target Rifle by Andrew Wurfflein in Philadelphia, PA (AL5233)
Description: "Fine percussion target rifle by Andrew Wurfflein in Philadelphia, PA. Overall length is approximately 41". The approximately 25" octagon barrel has an excellent bore. The barrel has approximately 90% brown. The patent breech has two silver bands. The barrel tang, lock and hammer are smooth with much of their color finish. The German silver nosecap, escutcheons, trigger guard, butt plate, and blank oval escutcheon on the left flat are fine. The stock, which is checkered at the wrist, is very fine with sharp edges and no chips or cracks. The barrel has a filled dovetail 14" from the muzzle. The sights are more modern replacements. The lock is marked “A. Wurfflein/ Phila." The action functions correctly. Andrew Wurfflein operated from circa 1835-1871. He is known for Deringer type percussion pistols and percussion rifles. This rifle is a fine example of his craftmanship. It would fit any percussion target rifle collection or a collection of Philadelphia-made guns. Price: $4,750.00 Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
