Anrique Matchlock Jezail Musket
Description: Of .60 cal, 47 1/2” barrel with swamped cannon-belled muzzle and an oxidized bore. The barrel of this interesting jezail is rather ornately fashioned with its multiple fluted areas at the muzzle and breech, with turned medials and a pair of deeply impressed Arabic touch marks atop the tang. The barrel shows an old cleaning to pewter gunmetal patina with remnants of oxidation staining and old pitting scattered about, a few imperfections in the metal also noted. The rear sight and pan are chiseled with some fancy foliate motifs, there likely was a pan cover present at some point that has been lost to the years. There are two segments of old brass wire wrapped around at the breech and a 22 1/4” long brass nosecap which supports five brass barrel bands all toned to a nice ocher patina, showing some scattered light dents and dings. The serpentine is also brass and is linked to a long pierced iron trigger. The smooth hardwood stock is in classic form and remains in about very good condition showing some scattered thin drying cracks and areas darkened from the years along with some other light handling marks.Trigger is a plate that pushes up into the stock, It appears a buttplate was once present as it shows two vacant holes and there is also a vacant pin hole between the brass wire. The front sight appears to have been knocked off or ground down and the simple mechanism is otherwise functional. A rather nice example for the collector of primitive arms When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost. We don’t have a web site .I prefer money orders or a check. Item ships when funds come in. I try to keep guns affordable, which means I make less money than most dealers. You won’t get altitude sickness, or nose bleed, with my prices! I consistently have the best selection of older guns If you attempt to buy, you must still contact us for details . Best to email to buy. Sometimes a local person can stop buy and purchase before the gun is removed. Sometimes not home to get calls. Some guns are required shipment to a gun dealer near you for a transfer to you when it arrives. Otherwise many older or black powder guns ship to your door. With the widest selection of older guns at great prices, We don’t have a store, and sell on the internet only. I’m easy to get along with. Thank You SOLD Antique: Yes |
