SIMEON NORTH Flintlock COMMON RIFLE US Model 1817
Description: SIMEON NORTH Flintlock COMMON RIFLE US Model 1817 “US” Marked 1 of 7,200 Contracted by Simeon North Here we present an antique U.S. Model 1817 “Common Rifle” from the Simeon North Contract, made in 1829 in Middletown, Connecticut, in its original flintlock state. The M1817 common rifle was produced from the 1820s to 1840s. The 36-inch barrel was rifled for .54 caliber bullets. Like the Model 1814 before, it had a large oval patch box in the buttstock. This was a period in which conflict was primarily with Native Americans, the Santa Fe Trail was becoming busier, and the United States was growing geographically and in population. These would have seen use during the Texas War for Independence from Mexico, the Antebellum Indian Wars as well as the Mexican American War. Many of these were used during the American Civil War, especially in the early days of the conflict when military weapons were hard to come by. These were excellent rifles and performed well even decades later. The overall condition is very good plus. The iron parts have a nice gray patina. The markings are clear. The walnut stock is in good condition. The bore is clean and well-rifled. The action is excellent. Here is a very attractive and scarce early American flintlock rifle! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 36 inches. Caliber: .54 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3675 #8397 SOLD Antique: Yes |
