U.S. Model 1803 Rifle Manufactured at Harpers Ferry Arsenal. Dated 1818. This is an exceptionally fine example with excellent metal, no pits or evidence of hard use. Proofs on barrel at the breech are perfect. The lock is very well marked and the tiny US in the shield with the eagle is clear, sharp and easily visible. The stock is very good with some light dings from handling. All brass furniture has an even, beautiful patina. This is the best 1803 Rifle we have handled in 45 years! This is a key gun in any U.S. martial long gun collection.
