RARE .577 GREEN BROTHERS PATENT CENTRAL FIRE EXPERIMENTAL BOLT ACTION BREECH LOADING HAMMER FIRED RIFLE
Description: Make: British Model: Green Brothers Patent Central Fire Serial Number: 5008 Year of Manufacture: LATE 1860'S Caliber: .577 Snyder Cartridge Action Type: Single Shot , hammer fired, bolt action, breech loading rifle Markings: Ordnance proofs on rear left side of barrel with the number "25" for .577 caliber. Top breech cover marked "GREEN BROTHERS/PATENT CENTRAL FIRE/No. 5008. No signs of marks or stamps on stock. Barrel Length: Approximately 33” Sights / Optics: The front sight is a thick blade atop a raised base. The rear sight is a flip-up ladder sight, graduated from 5-10. "V" notch when closed. Stock Configuration & Condition: This is .577 P-1864 2-band enfield rifle with straight grip, cutout for the included ram rod, metal nose cap, two sling loops, and a metal buttplate. Both barrel bands , and sling loops present. The walnut stock is in very fine condition, with only light handling marks, and impressions. No cracks or chips Type of Finish: Blued Finish Originality: Original Bore Condition: Bright with deep rifling, very nice. Overall Condition: Nice Bluing with signs of wear along both sides of the barrel. Bluing worn on butt plate. Bluing worn on top of breech slide cover. No signs of pitting or corrosion on barrel. Light corrosion on barrel bands. Ovverall rifle is very nice condtion. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle.
