JOHN SHULER Antique SUPERPOSED .42 Caliber SWIVEL BREECH Combination Gun
ENGRAVED Early-1800s American RIFLE/SMOOTHBORE
Description: JOHN SHULER Antique SUPERPOSED .42 Caliber SWIVEL BREECH Combination Gun ENGRAVED Early-1800s American RIFLE/SMOOTHBORE Here we present an antique Engraved John Shuler Superposed Swivel Breech Percussion Rifle/Shotgun Combination Gun made circa the early-1800s in Liverpool, Pennsylvania. This rifle features superposed barrels that revolve, each having its own bolster, nipple, and iron sights. One of the barrels is rifles and the other is a smoothbore. Both barrels are marked “J.R. SHULER” and a faint “J.R. BEUTAKEL” or something like that. The lock is faintly engraved but with no visible maker’s marks. From the time that firearms were introduced, gunsmiths had experimented with various ways to turn those single shot weapons into multi-shot weapons. Prior to the use of “repeating” arms, one of the most successful systems was to use multiple barrels, each with their own load and charge. In the early United States, many pocket pistols were produced with two or four barrels, and sometimes even more. The overall condition is fair to good. The action is strong. The set trigger must be engaged for the hammer to hold full-cock. The lead screw of the lock is absent so the lock is loose in the inletting. The bores are quite oxidized and pitted. The top bore has deep rifling. The stock has nice grain and it is in good condition showing much wear. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 30-1/2 inches. Caliber: .42 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1500 #226965 SOLD Antique: Yes |
