J. Stevens 1894 "Favorite" .22
Description: SOLD J. Stevens A&T Co. 1894 "Favorite" .22 cal. single shot rifle. One of the best selling boys rifles in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This one is a very early example, and in nice shape, for a 125+ year old. The walnut stock is in excellent condition, I would guess it was re-finished some time ago. The steel buttplate is more like what you usually see on the "Ideal" models.. Reciever is squared off at the breech block and has a 7 o'clock positioned extractor also indicating a very early manufacture date. The barrel has been aggressivly buffed and re-finished, possibly not the original match to the reciever, but the head space locks up tight and there in no lever droop. Flip up Lyman rear sight works fine, and the front sight is also a flip up with 2 sized posts. The bore is pitted for a couple of inches in front of the chamber, but fine the rest of the way. Shoots great. I would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. $55.00 shipping to your FFL or C&R, Money order preferred, ask about other payment options.
