A-Square Hannibal in 500 A-Square
Description: PENDING SALE-This is a like-new A-Square Hannibal safari rifle in 500 A-Square. The 500 A-Square was the first commercial sporting caliber developed by Col. Art Alpin, and is created by necking up a full-length 460 Wby case to .510. When loaded to A-Square specs, the rifle takes a 500gr bullet to 2,470 fps, and a 700gr to 2,250 fps, although there's no real reason to load them that hot. Although not likely to win a beauty contest, the Coil-Chek stocks on A-Square rifles do an amazing job of handling the recoil forces created by large African calibers. With a straight comb and a recoil pad with probably twice the surface area of a normal pad, one can easily handle cartridges whose ballistics look formidable on paper. This rifle has unusually nice wood for an A-Square, and has been shot very little. It will include a set of CH4D reloading/case-forming dies as well as the 600 and 700 grain factory A-Square ammunition I have left and the brass. I will also include a set of the Pachmayr snap-in sling swivels that fit into the recesses in the stock. Rifle weight with bases and rings is 11.6 lbs, with LOP of 14" and barrel length of 23". If you hunt Africa's largest game, this rifle was designed to do just that. SOLD |
