Antique BRITISH 1870s WEBLEY R.I.C. Pattern Model .380 Caliber Revolver
Description: Antique BRITISH 1870s WEBLEY R.I.C. Pattern Model .380 Caliber Revolver Here we present an antique British Webley R.I.C. Revolver in the .380 Revolver Cartridge, made in England circa the 1870s. Webley produced their first pistol is 1853 and introduced their first double action in 1867. The success of the world famous Webley Firearms Company was in no small part due to the existence of the RIC. In 1867, Philip Webley launched a new compact revolver design, which was to achieve recognition throughout the world and remain in production for more than 60 years. Webley secured a contract to supply his weapon to the RIC in January 1868, a stroke of good fortune which ensured the financial success of the company and established it as the foremost supplier of personal firearms to the Government and Colonial Forces for years to come. According to “The Webley Story”, by William Dowdall, published by Commonwealth Heritage Foundation, June 1987 states that: “In September 1869, Lord Berkeley (C.S. Paget) presented a pair of the 1867 pattern Webley R.I.C. revolvers to Brevet Major General, George Custer, later commander of the 7th U.S. Cavalry." Custer, with his command, was killed at the battle of the Little Bighorn, in the U.S. State of Montana, in 1876, It is said that he was carrying these pistols at this battle. The pistols have never been recovered.” The overall condition is fair to good. The action functions. The bore is dark with visible rifling. The original cylinder arbor is absent but the stand-in works. The grips are solid. A scarce Webley revolver that will fill the hole in your collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4-1/4 inches. Caliber: .380 Revolver (Centerfire) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
