1993 Vintage Smith & Wesson Model 649-2 Bodyguard .38 Special Revolver w/ Original Box, Ppwrk, & Cleaning Kit
** MINT & UNFIRED ** SOLD
Description: This is a truly spectacular, flat-mint, factory test-fired only, Smith & Wesson Model 649-2 Bodyguard .38 Special stainless steel revolver complete with the original box and everything it left the factory with. Built in 1993 and bought new by the original owner, this Model 649-2 was never even taken out of the box, and has been in storage since the day it was brought home. Introduced in 1986, the Model 649 was the stainless steel version of the well-known and well-liked Model 38 and 49 "Bodyguard" model revolvers. The 649 featured all-stainless steel construction with an alloy trigger, a 2" inch barrel, fixed sights, a shrouded hammer, a 5-shot fluted cylinder, and checkered Walnut grips. The Model 649 Bodyguard Stainless remained in production for 13 years before being discontinued in 1998, and the production run saw a total of 5 engineering changes. This particular example is a 649-2, for the 2nd engineering change. As mentioned before, this Bodyguard stainless is simply immaculate, and has to be one of the best in existence. It could not be improved upon in any respect. The stainless steel is bright and clean, rating 99% plus. Outside of one little shiny streak on the left-hand side of the rear edge of the hammer shroud (that is only visible when held at a certain angle in just the right light) and the faintest of drag-lines, there are no marks or visible wear on this gun whatsoever. It is 100% like-new. The face of the cylinder shows a faint halo around every other cylinder from factory test firing, otherwise it is immaculate. The bore is mirror-bright and pristine, and the rifling looks brand new with perfectly sharp lands and grooves. The alloy trigger is bright and clean, free from any wear, discoloration, or damage of any kind. The factory grips on this Smith are also perfect and like-new, with crisp and clean checkering and perfect edges. The action in this Model 649-2 is smooth, slick, and perfectly "in time". All of the controls are in like-new, perfect working order. This Smith could pass for having left the factory yesterday rather than 28 years ago, and it should function that way too! The original box is in great shape and still has the serial numbered label on it, and everything that it left the factory with is still inside. They just do not get any better than this! If you have been looking for an immaculate all-original J-frame Smith & Wesson to add to your collection here is your chance to get the best one we have had since the early 1990's when they were new. SOLD Handgun Caliber: .38 Special Manufacturer: Smith & Wesson Model: 649-2 Bodyguard Serial Number: BND1662 Barrel Length: 2" Inches Condition: Mint Metal Condition: Mint Wood Condition: Mint Bore Condition: Mint Action: Double-Action / Single-Action Finish: Stainless Steel Manufacture Date: 1993 Extras: w/ Original Box, Owner's Manual, Pamphlets, Cleaning Kit, Inner Carboard Box Insert, and Factory Anti-Rust Shipping Paper. |
