This Collector-Shooter’s Listing is a Used; Circa 1953; Serial # K188,7XX; Smith & Wesson K .22 Target Masterpiece 3rd Model; 5-Screw Sideplate Revolver; 6-Inch Slightly Tapered Heavy Barrel; Solid Serrated Rib, Windage & Elevation Click-Adjustable Target Rear Sight; 1/8-Inch-Wide Ramped, Pinned Partridge Front Sight; post-1948 Four-Line Address on the Frame; Large S&W Monogram on the Sideplate; Serrated Front- and Backstrap. The barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON” on the Left Side; “*22 LONG RIFLE CTG*” on the Right Side. It has a Medium Width Checkered (Low Spur) Hammer; Frame-Mounted Rimfire Firing Pin; Serrated Trigger; Frame-Mounted (fixed) Trigger Stop. The Barrel is Pinned and the Cylinder is Recessed with Matching Serial Number on the Rear Cylinder Face. The Bore is Bright with Sharp Rifling; and the Chambers are Bright and Shiny. The Blued Finish shows Moderate Wear for its age (72 years) as shown in the photographs. The transverse hole through the bottom strap (behind the grip locator pin) indicates this K-size frame was configured for a lanyard loop before it’s selection as a rimfire-target model. Grips are later model S&W Panel-Checkered Magna Style. A cylinder line and areas of lost bluing and other blemishes are present. Someone went over spots on the exterior right side of the barrel with steel wool – adding linear scratches in the process.These do not show up well in the photos. Blue wear is seen around the outer edges of the muzzle, the ejector rod and cylinder face.
