Smith & Wesson 5-Screw K .22 Masterpiece with Model 17-6 Full Lug Barrel
Description:
Used; early Post-War Circa 1948; Serial # K 19,5XX; Smith & Wesson K .22 Target Masterpiece; 5-Screw Sideplate Revolver with a (slightly under) 6-Inch Heavy, Pinned, Untapered, Full-Lug Barrel from a Later Model 17-6; and a later-model (after 1948) Windage & Elevation Click-Adjustable Target Rear Sight. The Barrel has a 1/8-Inch-Wide Ramped, Pinned Partridge Front Sight. This revolver has the Pre-1948 One-Line Address on the Right Side of the Frame “MADE IN U.S.A.”; Large S&W Monogram on the Sideplate; Serrated Front- and Backstrap. The Model 17-6 barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON” on the Left Side; “.22 LONG RIFLE CTG” on the Right Side. There’s a Medium Width, Square, Deeply Checkered (Low Spur) K .22 Type Hammer; Wide Serrated Target Trigger; Frame-Mounted (fixed) Trigger Stop. Also, there is no transverse hole through the bottom strap for a lanyard loop – an indication the frame was produced after wartime inventory was used up. The Bore is Bright and Sharp as best we can see with a flashlight; and the Chambers are Bright and Shiny with some marks ahead of the case mouth. The Cylinder is Original K .22 with Recessed Chamber Rims and Matching Serial Number. The Blue shows little wear for age with minor wear on the edges of the trigger guard, front-bottom corners of the frame, and extractor rod. If not for that wear, one would think it was reblued. We cannot be certain, but the finish looks original to us. Oversize, High-Grade, Matching Grain, Right-Handed Target S&W Grips are installed. Owing to late-model grips on an older model frame, there’s a bit of a gap in grip-fit over the frontstrap. In our estimation, this revolver is better than any of the new K-22’s. Because it has a later-model barrel and grips – and appears in such good condition with little apparent wear - please refer to the photographs to judge condition. Please ask any questions or request additional information before purchase as this item will be troublesome and costly to return owing to CA re-registration and other regulations. Any refunds will be minus our actual shipping cost and FFL fees (greater than $150) after buyer pays return shipping. The listed price Includes Insured Air Shipping from a CA FFL Dealer to yours. Payment is by Money Order, Bank (Certified) Check or Personal Check (held 2-3 days). We are the Estate Executor and Trustee, not a dealer, and cannot handle credit card or electronic payments. This item is subject to prior sale.
