Description: RARE ANTIQUE SMITH & WESSON No 1 SECOND ISSUE POCKET REVOLVER If you're looking for an exceptional addition to your Smith & Wesson collection, then this antique, rare Smith & Wesson Model 1 Second Issue revolver might just be what you're looking for. Made between 1860 - 1868 this revolver features a serial number of 45364. During the civil war there was a very high demand for these revolvers , especially from the civilian population. Barrel stamped: SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS Cylinder marked: PATENTED APRIL.3.1855.JULY.5.1859 The 7-shot .22 S&W , tip-up barrel revolver has all serialized parts matching, including the original factory grips. Its barrel-to-frame fit is tight with just a tiny bit of movement. The action functions very well mechanically with good timing , lock-up and a crisp hammer. In terms of its condition, this revolver is in very good shape. The 3 3/16“ raised ribbed, octagon tip-up barrel has an excellent bore with some scattered light oxidation within and strong rifling throughout. The brass frame retains about 95% of the original silver plate. The barrel and unfluted cylinder have toned to a medium gunmetal grey showing some light dings and small areas of pinprick light pitting. The barrel and cylinder are correctly assembly numbered to the gun , cylinder has two patent dates showing . The cylinder has a very small section with a little pitting and could be hiding a 3rd patent date. The smooth rosewood grips rate very fine and are numbered to the gun. Also included is a nice condition presentation case with a full box of vintage .22 short cartridges to display with this really nice looking revolver.
