Smith & Wesson ~ DA 45 Brazilian Contract 1937 ~ .45 ACP/.45 Auto Rim
Description:
This Smith & Wesson revolver was part of a contract with the Brazilian Government for 25,000 revolvers in 1937. They were stamped on the right side plate with the Brazilian seal and the year 1937. These revolvers were actually Model 1917 Double Action Large Frame Revolvers with shortened cylinders able to fire the .45 ACP with half-moon clips or .45 Auto Rim ammunition. They were fitted with a lanyard ring on the butt of the frame however, this one has had that feature removed and fitted with Pachmayr rubber grips instead of the checkered walnut grips with S&W medallions. Timing appears good with a bit of cylinder free play. .45 ACP
