OTTOMAN CONTRACT .44 Henry Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 REVOLVER Rare S&W Made as a Sidearm to their Winchester 1866!
Description: OTTOMAN CONTRACT .44 Henry Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 REVOLVER Rare S&W Made as a Sidearm to their Winchester 1866! Here we present an antique Ottoman Contract Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 Single Action Revolver in .44 Henry, made circa 1874 in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Ottoman Empire was modernizing at this time, with sweeping political, social, and military reforms. The Ottoman order for these Smith & Wesson No. 3 Revolvers was 5,281 and were chambered in .44 Henry to make a companion to their Winchester Model 1866s, chambered for the same cartridge. These were in use through World War I as the empire was allied with the Central Powers. Surviving examples are rare and typically weathered and worn. This revolver comes with a lanyard ring mounted on the bottom of the grip frame and checkered walnut grips. This contract was inspected by one of Springfield Armory’s own inspectors, A.F. Cameron, and his initials are located at the top of the left grip panel. There are also “P” proof markings, one on the back of the cylinder, and one on the inside of the frame, as well as a “C” on the inside of the frame. This one was sent back to Smith & Wesson in 1966 for a factory refinish in S&W’s characteristic blue. The overall condition is fine. Fantastic blue finish. Numbers match. The action is strong and tight. The bore is good. The grips are solid with wear from handling. The factory reapplied finish blue finish is reflective on the frame and cylinder. A very rare Smith & Wesson, in a rare chambering, in great condition! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 6-1/2 inches. Caliber: .44 Henry Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $5475 #200898 SOLD Antique: Yes |
