Sights / Optics: The front sight is a round blade pinned to the top of the rib. The rear sight is a U-notch in a rise in the barrel latch post of the frame.
Original Box Included
The Smith & Wesson .32 Hammerless 2nd model Top Break Revolver was a popular firearm manufactured by the Smith & Wesson company from 1902 to 1909. The serial number 163070 indicates that this particular revolver was made during this time period, produced in the last year ,1908.  It is chambered in .32 caliber and has a 5-shot auto ejecting cylinder.

Condition:  3” raised rib round barrel with a bright excellent bore   The metal surfaces of this revolver retain about 95% of the original nickel with very minor handling marks. The triggerguard and barrel latch retain about 90% of the original blue with just some light speckles of oxidation.   The trigger retains about 70% of the original case hardened colors.  The hard rubber checkered grips are excellent with just some light handling marks.  The left panel has a patent date and the right panel is stamp numbered to the gun.  All parts are serialized to the frame with all the barrels markings crisp and legible.   The barrel to frame fit is tight. Timing and lock-up are excellent.   The action functions very well mechanically. Everything indicates that this gun has seen very little use and has been very well-cared for over the years.
Also included is the original canvas factory box. The box is in very good condition for it’s age with some minor corner wear. Interior labels remain crips and legible.

The hammerless design , concealed hammer and grip safety made it easier to carry and reduced the likelihood of snagging on clothing or other objects. Back in this era holsters were very seldom used and guns were sometimes fired through the coat pocket.  Commonly referred  to as “Lemon Squeezer” because the grip safety must be squeezed as it is fired.The top break feature allowed for quick and easy reloading. Overall, this antique rare Smith & Wesson .32 Hammerless 2nd model Top Break Revolver is a highly collectible piece of firearms history. Its nice condition, unique features, and rich history make it a valuable addition to any firearms collection.
