1909 Vintage Smith & Wesson New Departure Safety Hammerless in .32 S&W (3rd Model) ** Beautiful Re-Nickel w/ Pearl Grips ** SOLD

Description:
This is a very attractive Smith & Wesson New Departure / Safety Hammerless Model in .32 S&W caliber with a nickel finish and genuine Mother of Pearl grips.  This little top-break double action revolver is an early "3rd Model", made in the first year of production in 1909.  The Third Model was made from 1909 to 1937 with approximately 73,000 of them made.  The double-action only Safety Hammerless was offered in blue or nickel finish and features a 5-shot fluted cylinder, a 3" or 3.5" inch barrel, a top-break action with automatic ejector, and a grip safety that had to be depressed to fire the gun.  The factory grip safety is what gave this model the commonly-heard name, "Lemon Squeezer".  This particular S&W has a 3.5" inch barrel and is serial number 175326.  It has been re-nickeled/restored at some point in the last 110 years, and has had a nice set of genuine Mother of Pearl grips added to it.  The nickel finish rates 98% and is bright and clean, with the blued trigger, triggerguard, and top-latch rating 98% as well.  The bore is very good in this S&W, with nice strong rifling and just a little frosting in places.  The cylinder bores are excellent, free from any pitting or imperfections.  The Mother of Pearl grips are beautiful and in very good condition overall, free from any major damage or cracks and perfectly fit to the gun.  The action on this 3rd Model New Departure is in perfect working order.  It is "in time" and the cylinder locks up properly.  If you have been looking for an affordable yet still attractive example of this neat little Smith & Wesson design, this restored 1909 vintage 3rd Model example would be an excellent choice.
