Smith & Wesson Triple Lock 455
Description: A super rare chance to own a piece of WWI History. I present to you the Smith & Wesson .455 Hand Ejector First Model (Triple Lock ) revolver in 455 that was sent to the British Government in December of 1914, and was carried by one Captain Leonard Francis Cass of the 7th Royal Sussex Regiment, British Army, along with its original issued holster. Also included is his sword and British “Death Penny” which was sent to his family after his death at Festubert France on December 13th 1915. He was shot by a sniper and died the next day. C&R or FFL. Buyer pays for insured shipping via USPS Priority. I bought this lot from Williams Gunsite in Davison Michigan in 2016 where his relatives sold it as they were moving to Canada. The gun is in beautiful, all original, near mint condition with matching original grips and a British issue holster. The bore is perfect, and it does not appear to have been fired very much if at all. Many of these Triple Lock 455s were converted to 45 Colt caliber, but this one remains all original and comes with its original British holster which is in excellent condition with no loose stitching or preservatives added to it. The gun comes with a factory letter showing it shipped to Remington Arms on December 30, 1914. Remington Arms were agents for the British Government. It is hard to find a 455 Triple Lock in this condition. The sword is engraved, and his last name of Cass has been mistakenly spelled Caff? It comes with the original scabbard and is in solid condition but does show old corrosion and wear. The sword handle is tight and in very good condition. Also included is the Smith & Wesson factory letter along with numerous research correspondence and the book, “The History of the Seventh (Service) Battalion” which documents Captain Cass being killed. Note after several years of research I found that the British Government files showing which firearm was issued to which officer does not exist or has not been found. Copies of my correspondence are included. All items are stored in a smoke free and temperature-controlled environment.
