Hello
The Model 13 is the neglected stepsister to the Model 10 has been an overlooked prize for far too long. But recently it has been coming into its own as a modern collectible firearm.
It has an interesting history that begins with a special request from the New York State Police back in the early 1970s. The special order was filled with revolvers of the Model 10-6 variety that were fitted with .357 Magnum cylinders and barrels. It was a commercial and law enforcement success, so S&W renamed it the Model 13-1 and introduced it as a new line of police revolvers in 1974.
The Model 13-1 was improved in 1977 and designated the Model 13-2. You did not say which variant you have. We do know it has the square grip frame because of the barrel length. However, the variant will affect the value. So will the gun's graded condition. Before we can suggest a value, we will need this information. Post photos if you can and give us the model variant and the serial number.
