Smith & Wesson Model 3 Schofield, 1st Model, 45 Schofield Caliber, 7" Barrel - Antique 1875
Description: **PENDING SALE 1/29/2021**
*** PRICE REDUCTION***
Smith and Wesson Shofield Model 3, First Model, 6-shot single action revolver with the 7 inch barrel, .45 caliber.
The "Schofield" model was named after Major George W. Schofield, who made his own modifications to the Model 3 to meet his perceptions of the Cavalry's needs. Smith & Wesson incorporated these modifications into an 1875 design they named after the Major, planning to obtain significant military contracts for the new revolver.
The Smith & Wesson Schofield revolver, .45 caliber, was manufactured from 1875 to 1878. The vast majority of the 9,000 guns went to the U.S. Army. Many saw service in the Indian Wars, though they were reported in use as late as the Spanish-American War and Philippine Insurrection.
This gun is in very good condition, with a nice bore and the finish is beautiful for its age, wood grips are as handsome as they come. Of course being an antique the wear this piece has is a reflection of the years gone by and the stories this piece of history has collected.
A truly awesome piece to add to your collection.
We strive to represent the true condition of every firearm we sell, please refer to photos for further condition, and feel free to contact us with any questions or offers.
