Antique Smith & Wesson .38 Caliber 2nd Model Single Action. Tight As New. 95% Original Nickel Excellent !!!
Description:
Antique Smith & Wesson 2nd model .38 caliber single action. Here is an excellent Smith & Wesson 2nd model. Has the standard 3 ¼” barrel.. Caliber is the .38 S&W center fire. This little gun retains about 95% to 97% original bright nickel finish. Just a little flaking down in the cylinder flutes and a few very small specks on the left side of the barrel.. The barrel latch has near 100% blue. The trigger has about 95% blue just missing the blueing on the very tip of the bottom of the trigger. The case colors on the hammer have faded to a medium gray color with just traces of case color. The mechanics are excellent. Crisp and tight as a new gun. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch and the hinge. Excellent hammer notches at half and full cock. Excellent sights and screw heads. Excellent markings.. Low S/N 1502 and ALL matching numbers on the frame, barrel, barrel latch and rear of cylinder including inside the right grip. Probably made the first year 1877. Excellent grips show no wear to the checkering with no cracks or chips and a perfect snap on factory fit. The bore is near excellent, bright and shiny with a few tiny specks of roughness and the cylinder chambers are mint, bright and shiny. That is all I can say about this little jewel.. This one is good enough for a factory box if you have one. I like getting these little Smith & Wesson's in with most of the factory finish because they can be sold for way less than $1000 for a gun that is 148 years old with this much finish and tight as new.. Looks better in hand than my photos show because of the glare of the nickel finish.. My photography leaves much to be desired.. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos.. $30 insured shipping in hard plastic case.
