EXCELLENT Smith & Wesson .38 S&W Safety HAMMERLESS Revolver WWII Era C&R
Circa Late-1930s “LEMON SQUEEZER”
Description: EXCELLENT Smith & Wesson .38 S&W Safety HAMMERLESS Revolver WWII Era C&R Circa Late-1930s “LEMON SQUEEZER” Here we present a Smith & Wesson .38 Double Action Safety Hammerless Revolver in .38 S&W (5th Model), made circa the late-1930s in Springfield, Massachusetts. Over the 33-year production run for the 5th model (1907-1940), roughly 41,500 were manufactured. The Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless models were produced from 1887 (1888 for the 32) to just before World War II. They were chambered in either .32 S&W or .38 S&W with a five-shot cylinder. They were most often produced with a 2-inch, 3-inch, 3.5-inch, or 4-inch barrel. But some 6" barreled versions are known to exist. This revolver was made to be a simple, compact and reliable firearm that one could carry in a pocket or a holster around the turn of the 20th Century. This revolver features an internal hammer design to remove risk of snagging or stopping the action. There is a grip safety built into the back of the grip frame. The frame is a top-break design that activates the automatic ejector. These are very nice features from the turn of the 20th Century! They were known as "The New Departure" to reflect the company's new approach to designing revolvers. This 5th model was the last of the "Lemon Squeezers". The only appreciable difference between this model and 4th Model is the front sight blade on the 5th Model is an integral part of the barrel, not a separate blade pinned onto the barrel. The overall condition is Excellent. The action is strong and smooth. The bore is bright with nice rifling. The markings are clear and the numbers match. This revolver is comfortable and it’s no wonder that it was extremely popular. The bright blued finish with the casehardened trigger makes for a handsome sidearm indeed. A fine revolver for any collection! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 3-1/4 inches. Caliber: .38 S&W Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1300 #190671 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
