Antique SMITH & WESSON 3rd Model .38 Cal. REVOLVER Smith & Wesson’s Double Action Concealed Carry
Description: Antique SMITH & WESSON 3rd Model .38 Cal. REVOLVER
Smith & Wesson’s Double Action Concealed Carry
Here we present an antique 3rd Model Smith & Wesson .38 S&W Double Action Revolver, made circa 1890 in Springfield, Massachusetts. This would have been a fine little handgun to keep on you in the late-19th Century. With a smooth action and a handsome and durable nickel finish, you couldn’t go wrong with this nicely-sized .38 S&W!
The Smith & Wesson Third Models were produced from 1884 to 1895 with a total production of 203,700 revolvers. In the Third Model .38, the location of the latch notch of the rear sear was changed to give a lighter trigger pull when the weapon was used single-action. Although this required a corresponding change of the full-cock notch on the hammer, the two models (2nd and 3rd) are hard to identify except by reference to the serial numbers. Third Model serial numbers begin with 119,001 and run to 322,700.
The overall condition is fine. 96% of the original nickel finish remains with nice case colors on the hammer and trigger and great blued accents. The markings are clear. The numbers match. The trademarked hard rubber grips are in fine shape. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The action remains excellent.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
