Exceptional Blued Remington Model 1890 Single Action Army Revolver
Description:
This Exceptional Remington Model 1890 is a fine testament to how beautiful these blued examples are, this example, serial #1812, 44-40, 7 1/2" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces of this revolver retain around 85% original bright blue flaked to a pleasant gray-brown patina along the gripstraps and sides of the frame, an area on the cylinder and smaller spots along the right side of the barrel. There is a light turn line on the cylinder, scattered scratches and some other light handling marks. The trigger retains a hint of fire blue while the hammer and loading gate retain bold case-hardened colors throughout with some minor gray freckling and areas toning to silvery case-hardened patina. The Remington Arms Co. address and "44.C.F.W" marking on the left side frame remain crisp and clear. The black checkered hard rubber grips with RAC monograms remain in very good plus condition showing a shallow 3/4" chip at the base of the right panel, a tiny hairline crack at the base of the left, some other light handling marks and toning to a pale brown patina. The left panel is pencil-numbered to the gun and the right number is difficult to discern as it is written on the very edge of the panel but appears to be the correct matching number. The lanyard ring is intact, the German silver blade front sight has been very slightly regulated during the period of use, the triggerguard and loading gate are matching the frame and the remaining parts are un-numbered. When cocked the hammer will drop on half-cock but it otherwise functions mechanically with solid timing and lock-up. Should be an easy fix for the action to get it to hold at half cock. A very attractive example of these low-production Remington revolvers, original blued examples are much rarer than their nickel counterparts and to find an example retaining most of its original blue with the 7 1/2" barrel is basically unheard of. Shipping is $30 Plus actual insurance. Shipping method of either UPS Overnight or 2nd day air. More photographs can be found at w w w. haiglersvolcanictrading. com
