CIVIL WAR Antique REMINGTON New Model ARMY Revolver
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique REMINGTON New Model ARMY Revolver Transitional Model Made Circa 1864 Here we present an antique Remington New Model Army Revolver, issued to a Union soldier circa 1864, during the American Civil War. The Remington New Model Army represents the second-most number of issued handguns found on Civil War battlefields, second only to the Colt 1860 Army. The Remington featured a strong, solid-frame design with the groove in the top for a rear sight, as opposed to Colt’s open-top design. Though Colt got the lion’s share of the government contracts, many consider the Remington New Model Army the superior firearm. This example is a transitional model, lacking the “NEW MODEL” portion of the barrel address. It features a Civil War period serial number. Small government inspector markings are found throughout. The barrel address reads “PATENTED SEPT. 14 1858/E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION NY USA”. The grips show significant wear and some graffiti in the way of initials and notches cut into the right panel that have been filled. The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces are covered in a soft plum patina. The markings are legible. The numbered parts match. The loading lever is a replacement. The walnut grips are fair with the aforementioned graffiti. The bore is dark and in good condition. The action is strong. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8 inches. Caliber: .44 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2100 #6027 SOLD Antique: Yes |
