Pair Colt Double Diamond Set Python/Officers Model Anniversary Pistols
Description: Superb 1986 Ltd. Edition Deluxe Pair Colt Double Diamond Set Python/Officers Model Anniversary Pistols Offered here for sale and just acquired is this Rare Colt Python & Officers ACP Double Diamond 150th Anniversary Set Made in 1986 for Colt’s 150th anniversary. Colt celebrated its 150th year in 1986 by matching its time-honored Python with an Officers Model ACP in a beautiful cherry glass display case. The most rare of any Colt Ltd. Edition sets they are very difficult to come by. The first gun is a Colt Python Revolver LOW serial #DD0029, 357 Magnum, 6" ventilated rib full lug barrel with an excellent bore. The revolver is finished in Colt's "Ultimate Stainless Steel" finish, the surfaces are polished to a high luster and remain in wonderful condition. The smooth rosewood target grips with silver Rampant Colt 150th medallions are numbered to the gun and rate excellent. This lovely set is one of the few times Colt chose to use silver medallions in lieu of gold on the Python grips. The left side of the barrel is marked "Double [a pair of diamonds with COLT/150 between them] Diamond (in script)". The gun shipped with a red ramp front sight and white outline Colt Accro rear sight. The companion piece is a Colt Officers ACP Semi-Auto Pistol serial #0029DD, 45 ACP, 3 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore. The pistol has also been finished in Colt's "Ultimate Stainless Steel" leaving a high polish sheen on all surfaces. A smooth set of rosewood grips with the same silver 150th anniversary Rampant Colt medallions remain in excellent condition. The left side of the slide has the same "Double Diamond" markings as the revolver and it shipped with three dot sights. The cherry display case has thin framed glass cover allowing full view of both handguns. The lower right corner of the glass has "COLT" etched into the surface and the there is a flush fit brass lock on the base with key. The French fit interior is black velvet lined allowing the brightly finished guns to really pop when displayed. A 2 1/2" diameter gold and enamel 150th Rampant Colt medallion is mounted in the lower left corner. A must-have grandiose set of commemoratives in superb condition. Cased together in a fancy presentation case, only 1000 sets were planned. Rarely seen for sale, this is a very beautiful and desirable set, in perfect, unfired condition.
