Rare LA Jensen Spiller & Burr 44 Cal Black Powder Revolver #11
Description:
Up for sale is this rare reproduction revolver made by LA Jensen of Lake City FL in about 1952. LA Jensen was the first maker of reproduction 1800's revolvers and he chose to make the Spiller & Burr. He chose to make it in 44 so that could not be confused with the original in 36 cal. These are extremely well made and, as far as I can teel, all made by LA Jensen himself. It is stated on line that the estimate of production was up to 100. But none above 50 have been seen. This one is the lowest serial seen, #11. These were not marked with the cal or the typical "Black Powder Only" markings. These were made 100% in the US and predate the Navy Arms reproductions by 8 years. The revolver shows minimal handling marks. The action locks up tight. The deep rich black finish is is excellent condition. The bore is excellent. The brass frame is very heavy in design and should not have issues with "stretch" like seen on some other brass framed revolvers. Overall an excellet example of a very scare gun. Only about 6 known. Some frecking starting on the cylinder in one area.
