This Model 1874 was modified to 22 caliber rimfire for training use by the French military. It has the usual Mle 1874 marking on top of the barrel, the serial number, N21708, to the left, S1878 on the right, and various other inspection and proof marks. The frame is marked Mre d'Armes over St Etienne on the right. This revolver has a mix brown patina and bright finish. The bore is excellent with bright rifling. The grips are fine with wear but no cracks or chips. The action functions correctly. This is an interesting variation of the Model 1874. If you collect French pistols, this one is for you.
