Serial #6412, .38 S&W, 4 inch round ribbed barrel with a bright near-excellent bore with a few isolated spots of pinprick pitting midway through with strong rifling. This is Safety Hammer Automatic Revolver Large Frame Third Model manufactured by Iver Johnson from 1914 to 1941 and features the special order Western Walnut Grips. In excellent condition the metal surfaces of this revolver retain 97-98% original nickel and blue finishes showing scattered light handling marks throughout with a few small areas of scattered bubbling in the nickel and some high edge silvering on the blued trigger and triggerguard. The special order smooth polished hardwood grip rates excellent showing light handling wear and some finish loss around the top and toe. The barrel to frame fit is solid with proper timing and tight lock up. A very high condition example of a fairly scarce Iver Johnson revolver with special order features. FFL or C&R
