C&R Here we present an Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Safety Automatic Hammerless Double Action Revolver with a Bourne Knuckle Duster in .32 S&W, made circa 1904-08 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Iver Johnson was a U.S. firearms, bicycle, and motorcycle manufacturer from 1871 to 1993. The company shared the same name as its founder, Norwegian-born Iver Johnson (1841–1895). Iver Johnson & Martin Bye both cut their teeth with Ethan Allen, then started their own company in 1871. The revolver was a small, sturdy, well-built self-defense weapon, ideal for potent conceal and carry in the closing decades of the tumultuous 19th Century continuing on into the years leading up to the Roaring Twenties. Bright nickel finish with luminescent Mother-of-Pearl grips make this one really stand out. The knuckle coming off the bottom of the grip frame in combination makes this just the kind of flashy piece that one can imagine a gangster would have wanted. Quite scarce! The overall condition is Fine. The action is as strong as ever. The bore is bright and clean. The right grip has a small thin vertical crack. The nickel finish is mirror like and reflective. Out of ammunition? It’s no problem with the knuckle duster attachment at the bottom of the grips. Here we have a wonderful example of a true no nonsense self-defense weapon leading into the “jazz age.” This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 3 inches.
