HOPKINS & ALLEN MFG. CO. XL BULLDOG .38 CF CAL. DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER CIRCA 1885. 5 shot with 3” octagon barrel. Top strap stamped “XL BULLDOG .38 Cal. Center Fire” with maker’s name and 1871 patent date. Early side loading gate model. Nickel plated with case hardened hammer. And BROWN hard rubber grips. Very good condition with 90% + original nickel plating with case colors on the hammer. Very good plus grips. Light pitting in bore and excellent mechanical working order. Nice example and quite scarce pocket model with the unique feature of the safety folding hammer with its own patent date of Jan. 27 1885. The folding hammer is designed to slip out of a pocket without hanging up on your clothing giving you an edge if the need be. This is an ANTIQUE and can be shipped directly to you.
