"Devisme 1854 Percussion Revolver .35 Caliber (AH6753)

Description:
"French six shot percussion revolver with a 6.5"" octagonal barrel. Top strap has the inscription ""Devisme a Paris"" in silver. Devisme was a genius for inventing different systems for firing, and this is one of them. Each chamber of the percussion cylinder, when removed from the revolver, has a ""post"" upon which the bullet and powder charge are placed in the cylinder. The bullet is on top of each post of the barrel assembly, and when locked in place by the left side lever, it forms a seal between the front of the cylinder and the barrel breech. This makes for a more efficient and powerful charge. A rare system. Devisme made beautiful revolvers and this is a prime example.
