1840-1850 English Transitional Double Action Percussion Revolver
Description: Large Bore 1840s-1850s British Antique TRANSITIONAL Double Action PERCUSSION Revolver Circa 1840-50s Transition Pepperbox to Single Barrel Circa 1840-50s Transition Pepperbox to Single Barrel Here we present an antique Early British Double Action Percussion Transitional Revolver, made circa 1840s-50s in England. This revolver is representative of the short period between the pepperbox, an early type of percussion revolver on which the cylinder’s chambers were also barrels, and the single barrel revolver as we know it today. The barrel bears British proofs on the bottom of the barrel. These guns used a barrel cluster truncated into a cylinder and a single rifled barrel affixed to the end of the axis pin. Maker: Clough & Son Bath Large Bore, appears to be maybe .44? 5 1/2" Barrel retains 85% of its deep original blue. Bore is very nice and action functions nicely. Engraving on receiver, trigger guard, back strap is in excellent condition. There are still some areas of case colors present on the frame. Grips are nice and checkering is in great condition. This is a well above average condition Transitional Revolver, with the majority seen on the market are generally well used and brown / gray finish. Please feel free to ask questions.
