Rare and Scarce Colt Model 1871-72 Open Top Revolver
SALE PENDING
Description: The Colt Model 1872 open top revolver was manufactured for a limited time of 1871-1872 for a total production of approximately 7000 total. This rare "frontier" model bridged the cap between the percussion/metallic cartridge conversion era to the famous cartridge model 1873 Single Action Army. Chambered in .44 rimfire, same as the then popular Henry and Model 1866 Winchester, these handguns saw heavy use on the Western Frontier. This revolver, serial number 4846, it has the later 1871-72 patent dates. Nickel with one piece ivory "Army Size" grips, and a 7 - 1/2" barrel with integral rear sight. It has it's original barrel that's in it's original configuration (not stretched like most Open Tops you run across). All matching serial numbers. CONDITION: Very good overall with approximately 35-40% original nickel on the barrel, frame, and blackstrap with the remainder a nice brown / gray patina. Action functions nicely and bore is in good condition. Very good roll die naval battle scene on cylinder, no finish remaining. Ivory grips are fine showing modest wear and very pleasing yellow tone. I a offer a layaway plan (please contact me for details), and will consider trades. Please feel to ask questions. Price: $6,850.00 Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
